Barn Sale Finds
There were a ton of sales in our area over the Memorial Day weekend, so I hit a barn sale as well as some yard sales.
Here are some of my finds...
Old shutters - still don't know how I'm going to use them, but they were too cool to pass up!

A bunch of old wooden thread spools in an old box. I think I'll put them in an old jar and display them in my office...

Old books - I've started a collection of old books because we have an enormous amount of built-in bookshelves in our house and they are looking rather empty! Old books are so easy to find at yard sales and are really interesting to look at. They're a good space filler too.

This is a handmade rug that I put in my kitchen. For $1, I just couldn't pass it up!

I didn't spend over $2 on any of my finds. I just love me some bargains, don't you??

May Flowers
Some of my all-time favorite flowers bloom in May, including peonies, and right now they are in their glory!
I cut a bunch for the kitchen table...
There's just nothing like the smell of fresh-cut peonies...so yummy!

Here's my tiny little side porch...

Iris are in full bloom too...

And, another one of my favorites - hollyhock!

Happy weekend!

Couple Updates
Ok, ok, so I've been a bad blogger lately! Please bear with me.
It's because of a combination of busyness and just simply not having very much to say! But I'll try to do better, I promise.
My little love's birthday was on Monday! She turned 2 and we had a little party with some family...

She was BEAMING when she saw her new dolly!

Taking it all in...

So cute!
Um, yes, this is our current back yard. Doesn't it look lovely? After the rainy weekend, it is now a mud field. This is hubs pushing the dirt around and absolutely LOVING every minute! He said that he found himself a new career. I promptly brought him back to reality.

My peeps after a long day - they are the BEST.

Oh, I must give a shout-out to my favorite blog stalker Sharon who I met last week! It was nice meeting you and for heaven's sake, leave a comment sometime! :)

Desk Drawer Project
I picked up an old desk drawer for free at a yard sale last weekend, and as soon as I saw it, I knew something could be made from it.
So I decided to make it into a shelf...

I painted and distressed the edges and, after about half a dozen nail holes in the wall, finally got it hung straight! (isn't that SUCH a pain??!)

These are my Amish Grandfather's old German prayer books that I bought at an auction after he died a few years ago. They are a TREASURE!

And, on the slightly silly side, guess what little love's latest obsession is??

That's right...STICKERS! (and they are everywhere!)

Randomness.
For some reason I've been pretty uninspired to post anything in the past few weeks, so I thought I'd just be random today.
Hope you don't mind. I'm afraid it won't be very entertaining!
We have a cute robin's nest on our front door wreath right now - true robin's egg blue!

I found these cute mugs at Pottery Barn Outlet and wanted to display them somehow, so I got this cheap bar and hook set from Ikea that hubs hung on the kitchen backsplash. I think it works.

Um, since we are in the kitchen, here is our nutritious gourmet dinner. Don't judge me by my cooking skills. Dude, I got plenty of other skills. Chill.

And here is my pitiful little herb garden. Don't you just love the one little rosemary sprout?

I've been working on our little side porch this week.

Added a little interest to this chair.

And here is a box of day lilies (compliments of my buddy Jodi) that I need to plant.
