Jack's First Cut

Jack's hair was starting to look a little big shaggy around the edges, so I decided it was time to take the plunge. Time for the first hair cut!

I was a little nervous about holding a sharp scissors so close to his head, but he did a great job of holding still and not moving too much.

Hubs kept him entertained while I snipped away.

And here's a our little boy looking so much older! My blue-eyed boys - I love them so!

Thankful

*For my amazing little family who makes me laugh every day!

*For my husband who is teaching me the meaning of trusting whole-heartedly and totally on my Savior, Jesus Christ.

*For our families who are so supportive and will drop everything to help us when we need them.

*And for friends who are true friends. Friends who have fun with us, pray with us in our darkest times, hold our hands, and are just there for us.

Happy Thanksgiving to your family! :)

Book Wreath

I tried my hand at a project I found on Lindsay's blog. When I saw her unique wreath, I fell in love!

What a cool idea, right?! It costs next to nothing, and I made the entire wreath one afternoon while watching an oldie but goodie - "Little Women".

The wreath is made from pages of a book, which are glued onto a foam wreath form. There are step-by-step instructions on Lindsay's blog, so hop on over and make yourself a wreath of your own!

Yet another furniture project

I apologize in advance if you all are sick of hearing about my furniture projects! You're probably rolling your eyes and yawning right now, but I just can't help myself!

I picked up this cute Pier 1 side table from Goodwill this week for $6.97. I have a thing for little tables, and I liked the rattan sides and drawer of this one. And I liked the fact that it was sturdy and well-built.

Here's what it looked like when I got it. Really dirty and pretty scratched up...

And here's what it looks like now...

I primed it with B-I-N primer, and painted two coats of a semi-gloss paint. I then distressed it using regular paint mixed with Floetrol (a paint conditioner). I used pretty much the same technique as when I did my coffee table makeover. Once you get the hang of it, it's really easy to do.

Right now the table is by our front door. I'm not sure if it'll stay there or not, but that's where I plopped it for now. And I still want to find some cute accessories for it.

I swear I will never buy a new piece of furniture as long as I live! There are just too many awesome deals to be had out there!

Happy Weekend!

One of those days...

This has been my mantra today as I struggled to tame my wild-child little girl who suddenly turned into one of those annoying children you see in the store who run wildly down the aisles and pull everything off the shelves.

Normally, she is relatively well-behaved when we are out, but today?!! Oh, goodness.

Do you know if cough medicine can cause hyperactivity? I hope that's the reason and not because her personality suddenly changed! She kept me up a lot last night with a bad cough, so I'm struggling to be patient and keep my cool with my lack of sleep!

The kiddos are zonked out and I believe I will join them for a little nap...

Anthro Love

I just got the November Anthropologie catalog in the mail and two words say it all:

Ruffles and tights!

Yum!!

Here are some of my favorites...

These "Mallard" shoes made me crack up!

This purple coat in all its ruffled glory is calling my name! Sorry I can't afford you right now, but I think you are perfection! Maybe someday!

Course it's all just wishful thinking, but it sure is fun to look!

An Interview with my Favorite Girl

What is your name? "Avery" (but if you'd hear her say it in person, it would be more like "Airy".)

How old are you? "Three" (and holds up 5 fingers - she is yearning to be 5 so that she can go to school!)

What is your favorite color? "Black" (hmm, is her dark side coming out or what?! I even tried to coax her into saying "pink", but she said, "No! It's black!")

What is your favorite animal? "A lion"

What do you like to play outside? "Ride my bike"

What do you want to do when you grow up? "Go to school!"

What do you think you'll do in school? "Color with my books and play."

What do you like best about mommy? "You're my best girl!" (awww!!)

What do you like to play? "Play Cinderella and wear dresses." (She is a totally girly-girl!)

What is your favorite song? "Jesus loves the little children."

What do you like to play with Jack? "I like to push him in his swing."

What do you like best about Jack? "A friend loves at all times." (She really said that! Ha! She just learned the verse in her Sunday School class, and I guess it just popped into her head.)

Is Jack your friend? "Yep!"
