Sweet Chair

I've been a bad blogger lately, but I think I have good reason, right? It's amazing how one tiny little fig-sized unborn person can just wreak havoc on a person's body. I'm sure most of you know exactly what I'm talking about.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining (ok, I'm totally complaining), but I'm typically a high-energy person who does a million things a day and right now, it's just not possible!

So I guess I have to lower my standards for myself a bit and just relax. Easy to say - hard for me to do.

Despite how yucky I'm feeling, I do feel incredibly blessed to have this little person growing inside me. It's completely amazing how God designed this whole "pregnancy" thing. Completely amazing.

Anywaaaay, moving right along...

I picked up this wooden ladderback chair from the thrift store last week. I just couldn't resist the rattan seat, and it was in really good shape. So, you know me, I snatched it up! Check it out in all it's "brown-ness"!

Gave it a couple good coats of white paint and distressed the edges a bit.

I painted the "cafe" wording on the back using acrylic craft paint. I printed the wording from the computer, then traced it onto the chair with carbon paper.

It's going into the French Farmhouse, so let me know if you want it!

RockyBella Feature

Karli from RockyBella featured some of my re-do's on her blog today!

How flattered am I?!!

She has some great crafty ideas (totally my kind of girl!), so go check her out!

~ ~ ~

The hubs forbid me to do any painting today (I've been wearing myself thin lately with all the projects I have going on. He's getting tired of coming home to an exhausted wife).

And guess what I'm doing?

I don't listen very well...

Another Little Project

I have a confession to make.

I've been busy. And distracted. And I haven't been getting my projects done like I normally do.

I've been doing a lot of lying on the couch. And eating.
And then feeling sick.
I've been preoccupied with a particular little project. Only about 1-1/2 inches long but it's changing my world!

Yay for #3 coming in November!

Wedding Day

I just had to share these pictures taken byLauren Fisher of Elle Photography! This was a wedding that I helped to coordinate, and the bride was my good friend Jen's sister.

And what a gorgeous bride she was!

It was the most beautiful day!

Classic, simple, pink, and perfect!

Old Fashioned Little Cabinet

Yesterday I showed you this little beauty that I was working on. My mom found it for me at a thrift store and it was originally painted a beautiful robin's egg blue. Then some lost soul thought it would look much better painted this horrid brown with massive brush strokes in the finish!

Shudder.

So I got out my trusty white paint and brushes and painted away the brown!

I love how the inside has the wooden slats on the sides and bottom. It's very solid and old!

I used sandpaper to distress the edges and I love how it turned out!

For now it's in Avery's room, but I'm forcing myself to list it on the French Farmhouse. It's so hard to part with some of these lovelies!

I moved the tissue paper pom poms that I used for the birthday party into Avery's room.

I have visions of children jumping on the bed and crushing those beautiful flowers, but let's hope that doesn't happen!

Whateverness

I've been having fun with some little projects around these parts but you'll have to wait a couple of days to see the results!

The weather is unbelieveably gorgeous today filled with hanging clothing out on the line, cleaning up the messy house from the weekend, working on my "real" job, and helping (ie. watching) the hubs work on the ongoing (taking waaaaaaay too long!!) nursery project.

BUT.

It is just.about.finished.

And I am just about peeing myself with excitement! I cannot even tell you. I thought the day would never come.

Hopefully it will be completely done in about two weeks (oh, how I love to give myself deadlines....and get totally stressed out when it doesn't happen according to my neat little plans! HA! So ME!) and then I will unveil the finished room!!

Today I am working on this little number. Even though I should be doing other things. And totally don't have the time.

But, whatever, I was craving some creative time and just went for it!

Isn't it perfectly ugly?! Will show you the "after" tomorrow!

Springtime Party!

Hello kiddies! You probably thought I dropped off the face of the earth! But no, here I am yet again. The past few weeks have been filled with sick kiddos, trips to the mountains with family, helping friends decorate, enjoying the early Springtime. All that good (and bad) stuff.

Tonight I threw a surprise 30th birthday party for my sister-in-law Andrea. And I must say, my brain was kicked into high gear for this one!

The hanging white tissue paper "flowers" were made from a Martha Stewart kit from Michael's. So easy and FUN!

It was so much fun to use Spring as inspiration for the party! That meant lime green and pink! With some fun fabrics and flowers to accessorize.

I made the napkin rings out of a bunch of artificial flowers and clear plastic shower curtain rings.

The table was set up in our family room, and it worked out really well. On the menu: chocolate covered stawberries, cream puffs, artichoke dip, guacamole, cucumber sandwiches, caprese salad, and chocolate cupcakes.

Doesn't get much better than that, right?
