This is how we do Thanksgiving at our house

We shove in as much food as we can possibly fit into our mouths. And we do it quick before someone stops us. Especially if it's ice cream. Because that is the sacred food of the Weaver house.

Hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving! Our holiday was jammed packed full of family, food, shopping, friends, and did I mention FOOD??

I am tuckered out. And need to go on a diet...

Rocking Chair Re-Do

Cuz sometimes a creative distraction is just plain necessary when living in a house with a newborn, an almost-2 year old, and a 4 year old!

I had dragged this old rocking chair home from an antiques mall in Ohio a few months ago. There was something about it that I loved despite the fact that the seat is broken. Plus it was only $8.

Here is the before...

And here's what it looks like after several coats of white primer and paint...

Right now it's in Avery's bedroom. Eventually I want to repair the seat, but for now it works!

Things have been a little rough around our house lately. Last week the flu hit us hard, making Jack, Avery, and I sick almost all at the same time. Sleepless nights and being cooped up has made us all a bit cranky and rough around the edges. Thankfully, baby Violet and hubs steered clear of the flu.

So the babe is now 2 and a half weeks old. And is still just the sweetest thing. Although sometimes I long for a full nights sleep!! It seems like a distant memory! Very, very distant!

Looking quite serious...

Happy Monday!

Micah Clare

Exactly one week after Violet was born, our close friends Mark & Mary Fisher said goodbye to their little son Micah who passed away less than an hour after he was born. He had major complications that Mark & Mary knew about for the past 6 months.

They have been through an incredibly difficult journey, and we have so many questions. Life seems so terribly unfair sometimes. We've had a number of close friends who have had to say goodbye to their children shortly after birth, and it has made me intensely aware of being grateful for the health of our children.

We will miss little Micah even though he was only with us for a very short time. He is now in the arms of his Heavenly Father who loves him much more than we can even fathom! Our prayers are with the Fishers as they walk through their grief.

Life, no matter how small, is so precious! Let's not take it for granted!

7 Things

1. My thoughtful sister-in-law offered to take the two older kiddos for the morning, and I am chillaxing with my little babe. There is just nothing sweeter than a tiny little newborn! I wish I could bottle up her baby smells and little squeaks and noises. I just can't get enough of her!

2. The Nate Berkus Show. Love, love, love. I have an appointment with him every day at 2pm. Although lately, I sleep through most of it. The after effects of having a week old baby. What's so great about the show is that he features a lot of blogs I read like Brooklyn Limestone and Thrifty Decor Chick.

3. One of the best things about having a baby is having meals given to us by our family and friends! Cooking is NOT my thing, so I am feeling so spoiled right now! And the food is GOOD!! Much better than I usually make. So, yeah, this is working out quite well for me.

4. Presidential Head Chia Pets. Have you seen the tv ads for these? Is this a joke?

Can you imagine someone actually buying this?? Oh my word, I have no words.

5. Getting ready to go anywhere with 3 kiddos takes forever. Especially if you have a baby who takes forever to eat! It's not like we've gone out much yet, so I haven't experienced it too much yet. But, wow, it's something to get used to!

6. I cannot wait until Thanksgiving!! It's my favorite holiday because it pretty much just involves food and family. Our moms make the best food for the holiday and my mouth is watering right now just thinking about it! And my favorite cousin Miriam and her family are coming to visit from Ohio and we have so much fun together! She like the big sister I never had. And we always have a craft day, which of course is right up my alley.

7. On first outing by myself last Saturday, I went to the craft store. Are you surprised?? Well, you shouldn't be.

And that's all for now.

Sisters

The other day I overheard Avery telling Violet "You are my best friend forever!". And my heart totally melted.

We are all just so in love with our little Violet! She's a week old now and has been a really easy, content baby. She's a champion eater and excels in 4 things: Sleeping, Eating, Peeing, and Pooping! Oh, and being cute!

I'm getting a decent amount of sleep and have recovered so well from the c-section. I feel like I'm almost back to normal physically, although I have to keep myself from trying to do too much.

Yesterday was my first solo day with all three kids and let's just say, we were ready for daddy to come home! I think Jack has an inner radar that tells him to be naughty when I'm feeding the baby and can't do anything about it. But for the most part, the kids are adjusting really well to the changes around here.

Thank you so much for all your encouraging comments and emails! Seriously, this blogging community is just so cool! Thanks for taking the time to visit my little world!

Violet Sophia

It's a GIRL!!

Violet Sophia was born on Friday morning, and we are all doing really well! We're home now and are starting the "adjustment" phase of things. I wish I could just bypass the next 6 weeks, but this is life and it's not always easy!

Did I mention that she might be the most beautiful baby I've ever seen? Of course, I might be slightly biased! :) Avery and Jack are just LOVING her and can't get enough! It's the sweetest thing.

When we came home from the hospital, Avery asked me why my belly still looked like there was a baby inside. I promptly grounded her for a week and gave away all her toys to the neighbor kids. The nerve! Kids are just way too honest sometimes! :)

So for now we are cozying up, not going anywhere, and I'm enjoying having the hubs home for a few days to help around the house. And, of course, I'm trying to get sleep whenever I can!

Yay for tiny little dark-haired girls!

What I Wore Wednesday - Preggers Edition (Last One!)

It's 2 days before the BIG DAY! I'm scheduled for a c-section on Friday morning and am so excited to meet this little babe!

This week has been full of some serious nesting. Think cleaning windows, mopping floors, scrubbing bathtubs, getting all the last-minute baby-stuff ready. It's all kicked into high gear! Of course, by the end of the day I'm completely wiped out! As in, I can hardly move. I'm not even kidding.

But at least I'm feeling ready. Or as ready as I'll ever be. Not sure I'm prepared to take care of three kids four and under, but I'm gonna try my best!
