1 Corinthians 13 Sign

I recently created this "Love" sign for my photographer friend Shar Halverson in exchange for some amazing family pictures she took of us last fall.

I used an old salvaged door that hubs found in a barn (he's quite good at finding unique things for me to play around with!). The door had some gorgeous Victorian-style hinges that I thought went so well with the verses. The wording is taken from 1 Corinthians 13 (Message Bible).

I love working on custom pieces like this one ~ coming up with a design, a color scheme, finding the perfect wood to use ~ it's all so much fun for me!

What I Wore Wednesday {Thrift Store Edition}

So, I haven't been around here much lately. I've been feeling, well, just kinda BLANK with not a lot to say.

What have I been up to? I've been doing a lot of painting (as always). And I'm attempting to get Jack potty-trained. HA. On the first day I caught him standing on top of the kitchen table smack dab in the middle of a huge puddle. ON THE KITCHEN TABLE. What on earth?? I have no words.

Anyway, I'm sure you don't want to hear my potty training stories (and I do have plenty with this boy), so here are some "what I wore" pics from the past week.

Striped dress: Goodwill (Old Navy)
Yellow cardi: H&M
Boots: Goodwill (Target)
Flower pin: made by me

Black dress: Target
Belt: Goodwill
Jeans: Kmart
Shoes: Goodwill

Jack wanted to get in on the action. LOVE that little boy even if he does drive me nuts sometimes.

Hope you are having a great fantastic week friends!

My {Real} Pink Life

Just some random "realness" from this Monday.

{Hanging in my little corner of the office right now...photos, inspirations, quotes}

{My baby & me...from Avery's perspective}

{Some post-nap thumb-sucking and blanky holding going on...doesn't get much better}

{Avery: I drew a pig inside a fence. Yes, dear, that does look exactly like a pig. A pig with exceptionally long legs. You are awesome.}

{Post-nap Jack who got woken up by his loud sisters and wasn't very pleased. Steer clear.}

{A fun project waiting for me.}

{And some favorite toys that get lots of lovin' in this house.}

Happy Monday!

Think Outside the Box

I think one of the benefits of getting older is that I want my space at home to be more functional and more efficient than ever. I don't want to waste time and space on things that I don't love or need.

I've talked about it before, but I really don't enjoy baking. Don't get me wrong, I love to EAT. Especially chocolate cake. Triple, fudgy chocolate cake is even better.

BUT, I don't enjoy actually making it.

Anyway. I had most of my baking things on my countertops and in a couple of cabinet drawers. One day I had a thought. If I don't use my baking things very often, why do I have them taking up valuable countertop/cabinet space?

So I decided to move most of the baking things onto this vintage kitchen cart that I picked up at Goodwill a few years ago. If I have to bake, I can just pull the cart up to my counter top and go to work.

 I use canisters from Goodwill to hold my baking utensils and glass canisters from Ikea hold flour, sugar, etc.

So I would encourage you to think outside the box when it comes to storage solutions. This particular solution has worked great for me and has opened up countertop space for my painting supplies, which I use every day.

Have a warm, cozy weekend lovelies!

What I Wore Wednesday {Thrift Store Edition}

Hi guys!

Here is my "What I Wore" post for the week. As usual, almost all my clothes came from the thrift store...

Dress: Goodwill (Target)
Belt: Goodwill (Target)
Boots: Plato's Closet consignment
Leggings: H & M

Cardi: Goodwill (J. Crew)
Tank: NY&Co.
Skirt: Goodwill

In case you were wondering, I don't always dress this way! If you were to stop in today, you would find me in black jogging pants with paint splatterings, an old shirt that has the same paint splatterings, my hair in a messy non-cool bun, and white Hanes socks. Aren't you jealous? HA.

Hope you all are having a great week!

Random Bits of Me

A little one-sided chat from me today.

:: What am I doing today?  Scrubbing my house. This is the thing that gets put on the back burner when I'm busy. And I'm a bit of a clean-freak, so it drives me nuts. There's nothing like a clean house. Too bad it doesn't last very long these days!

:: What am I excited about? Hubs brought home a trailer-load of beautiful old barn doors on Saturday. I totally felt like it was Christmas morning when I saw them. I'm weird, I know.

:: What am I listening to? The Hillsong channel on Pandora.

:: What am I anxious about? Balancing life with my growing sign painting business and taking care of the kiddos and house. When I am stressed out I don't sleep very well, so I've been pretty worn out lately. I love seeing my business grow and have a hard time not letting it consume too much of my time. It's a daily struggle. So, there you have it ~ I am so NOT perfect!! Very, very far from it.

:: What is something new that I'm trying? My sister-in-laws, sister, and mom are doing a fitness/weight loss challenge for the next two months. This means that I have to stop eating stuff like "heart-attack in a bowl" (what I ate last night at our Super Bowl party) and I have to make time for exercise. Ugh. This means more stuff to cram into my day. But I know that it will be good for me and totally worth the time.

:: What is something I'm embarrassed about? Jack, who turned 3 last month, is still not potty-trained and I'm pretty sure it's my fault. I tried about 6 months ago and it was a failure. He just doesn't care if he's wet/poopy. Does.Not.Care. But I've been telling myself since Jan. 1 that I need to make time for it again and really work on it with him, but it just hasn't happened. But I MUST.

:: What are the kids doing today? Violet is on the floor playing with toys and Jack and Avery (who just came home from Kindergarten) are watching a movie we got from the library at church.

:: What am I grateful for today? That the sun is shining, the kids are enjoying playing together (for the most part), and we have everything we need. Truly.

{I made this sign last week using a beautiful old barn door. It is already sold, but I plan on making more similar to this one.}

Life Is Sweet

I created this "Life Is Sweet" sign for a friend to hang in her kitchen. She wanted a sign and said that I could come up with whatever I wanted ~ my favorite kind of customer!

I knew this sign would fit her perfectly. Here I took some pictures of it hanging in my family room before I gave it back to her.

I painted the background white, the lettering black, then heavily distressed the whole thing with sandpaper.

I almost made my friend let me keep this sign ~ I really fell in love with it. So I decided I will make one for my own home and a few more for my Etsy shop.  So if you're interested, keep your eyes peeled in the next week or so.

My shop has been woefully low in the past few weeks because I'm working on so many custom orders. Right now I'm taking only a limited amount of orders so that I can stock up my shop. So if you're waiting for a sign, thank you for your patience! I wish there were two (or three or four) of me to keep up with all the work I have right now. And, of course, there is always the time needed to take care of my sweet babes.

Wishing you loads of relaxation and fun this weekend!
