Sweet Little Table

I needed to get my furniture-painting fix and I had this little table courtesy of my mom, who got it from Goodwill a little while ago.

This is what it looked like beforehand...orangey-stain, lots of scratches, in need of a little tlc.

And this is what it looks like now...

I primed it, spraypainted it green, then glazed it with chocolate brown paint, and then again with black paint to tone down the green a bit.

I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it there beside the couch, but I'm sure I'll find a spot somewhere! I love these little projects!

  1. I'm so intrigued at your mad skills!! What is 'glazing' - do you water down the paint and then rub it back off once it's on?

    It's simply gorgeous!

  7. I know this is a few years after the fact, but I'm hoping you will still find this comment. I have a coffee table and two end tables that I would like to keep but they desperately need a facelift. They are 70s ish and have that layer of nonwooden veneer on the top. Would paint work for it and how would you go about it?

  8. Hi Heidi! I wasn't sure how to get a hold of you, so I hope you see this comment! To paint veneer furniture, I brush on BIN (shelack-based, similar to oil-based) primer. This holds up really well and you don't need to sand furniture first. Then I paint the furniture with regular semi-gloss paint.

  9. I love the little green table. I know it's been years but do you remember what color green spray paint you started with? I haven't look whats available yet but can't imagine they offer that color as spray so did the brown & black glaze change the original shade quite a bit?
