The sun is shining and it's time to take a deep breath and jump into the fresh new week!
I've been wanting to make a sign just for me for a while now and just haven't had the time to put into it. And I had a hard time deciding what scripture or quote I wanted to use. It's easy to give other people ideas on signs, but when it's for my own house, it took a long time to decide.
So, here is what I finally came up with.
I just love the way this wood looks.
I started with a barn door that was free of paint and stain. I brushed white paint onto the wood, then immediately wiped it with a damp cloth so that the grain of the wood shows. It took some experimenting to get it looking the way I wanted.
Then I used my normal method for painting the lettering, which you can read about here.
I hung the sign above the little dresser in our entry, and it'll stay there until I inevitably decide to change things around and will probably sell the sign! That's usually what happens when I make something for myself!
I hope you all have a great week!
Aimee, I love this one! I love the way you "white-washed" it, and the color of the lettering is just right! Also, the wording is great. I always need reminded what love is, and that it is NOT based on feelings! Have a wonderful day!

DeleteMy husband and I lost everything due to toxic mold in our old home and me having cystic fibrosis it nearly killed me. We are now rebuiding our lives and I desperately would do anything to buy this from you. Please email me kelly_5583@yahoo.com if you decide to replicate this. (I cant personally make this because of my lungs being so sensitive to paints ect).. WE are building again after 3 years of waiting, praying, and paying a mortgage on our old house and this would be perfect for our master bedroom. It says everything of what me and my husband went through and how faithful God truly was. This is another reminder that God truly didnt forget our file.. Thank you for sharing this with your readers. Sincerely, Kelly

DeleteI would like to know did you write this free hand, or lettering?
ReplyDeleteI used graphite paper to trace the lettering, then painted it.
DeleteWould love to buy when you sale it. halfacre_danny@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteWow! I like that love sign. For me it is one way of showing how you give importance to your love one. I should try this and put this sign on my Boy friends bedroom :) So exciting if how he will be react. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI know this is unrelated to your lovely sign, but do you know what color is on your walls? It's pretty.
ReplyDeleteThe paint color is called Winter Wheat by Olympia.
DeleteSpectacular in every way!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't mind but I'm going to attempt to make this! I absolutely would love to make this and have it hanging above my bed. I LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteHi. Did you use a paint pen on this sign for the small lettering? If so, what did you use. Did you sand over the lettering once you painted it? Thanks! I want to try to make this for out mantel for February.
ReplyDeleteI used a small paint brush and acrylic paint for the lettering. Then I sanded over the lettering after the paint dried. But you could definitely use a paint pen instead of a brush.
DeleteCan you tell what to buy for a paint brush at the store? By the way, I love all the verses you use.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite brush is a #2 Princeton Preferred round from either AC Moore or Michael's craft stores.
