Hi! I've been a follower for a while now...and before I officially "became a follower" I was checking in on your blog a couple times a week. I absolutely LOVE your blog! I am new to blogland. On one of my firsts blog posts, I directed everyone to your blog! Because I ADORE your signs! I show SO many people your blog. Anywho...enough of letting you know about how addicted I am to your projects (that I missing updates of since you've slowed down over the summer :( ) ...
ReplyDeleteSo, I wanted to ask, on the "faith hope and love" sign...can you tell me what font that is? I've downloaded a couple other fonts you have suggested but I REALLY like this one!! And thanks for telling us all where to get all of these great fonts! (In your sign tutorial you mentioned it.) Btw, is there another sight where you get more fonts?
Thanks SO much for your help!! Keep up the good work! It's such great inspiration!

Thanks for your comment Kendra! For the "faith hope and love" sign, I believe I used the Aquarelle font, which you can download for free here: http://www.fonts101.com/fonts/view/Script/32546/Aquarelle.aspx
DeleteI find many of my free fonts at www.dafonts.com. Hope this helps!
Aimee
Wow your signs are beautiful! what do you use to make them? Do you ever use a cricket?
ReplyDeleteI've never tried a cricket. All my signs are handpainted - here is the method I use: http://aimee-weaver.blogspot.com/2011/06/sign-tutorial-how-to-make-wood-sign.html

ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Can you tell me the font you used for the Good night sleep tight sign?
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry but I'm not sure exactly which font I used for that sign (I made it years ago). For a similar look, you could try Tangerine, Pristina, or Scriptina.
DeleteAimee, how blessed you are. and thank you for blessing me with your tutorial. i would like to try Psalms 61:2. i love the tail on the r. do you recall the font?
ReplyDeletethank you so much for sharing. I pray you and your family continue finding much Joy in your Journey. colleen
I believe it's Edwardian Script, and I put the embellishment on the letters myself.
DeleteTruly inspiring!! Beautiful work! I can't wait to try some of these pieces myself!!
ReplyDeleteWhere or how do you get the fancy brackets around words in your signs?
ReplyDeleteThere is a bracket button on the keyboard, next to the "P" button, that I use.
DeleteThanks! That's funny I looked on my keyboard and didn't see that. :) One more question, would you mind sharing what your technique for distressing with black around some of your canvas signs.
DeleteI rub a stamp pad onto the canvas, and that's what gives it the distressed look. Simple and easy! :)
DeleteThanks so much. I love your blog!
DeleteAbsolutely Beautiful Signs! God has truly blessed you with a WONDERFUL talent!!!
ReplyDeletejust wondering what fonts you used on your "Classy & Fabulous" coco chanel sign? it's awesome I'd love to make it for my daughter's room
ReplyDeleteYour work is gorgeous and inspirational. I look forward to following you. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAmy, do you happen to have one with the saying: "Love you to the moon and back" ?? I would love to get this if you could do it, as a Christmas gift for my sister this Christmas. Please let me know if this is doable. Thanks so much!!
ReplyDeleteI don't have one in stock with that saying, but I could create a custom order for you. If you could email me more info on what you would like (size, colors, etc), that would be great! aimeeweaverdesigns@gmail.com
DeleteI LOVE these signs of yours! I love your mix of fonts and of verses and sayings. They're all just lovely!
ReplyDeleteHow much for the one that is a barn door and says "Trust in the Lord with all your heart...." ? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteTrishi - the price on that sign is $125 + shipping.
DeleteAbsolutley beautiful artwork! How insipring!
ReplyDeleteHi Aimee!I just love your work. What is your method for distressing the wood signs, I love the ones with the white paint with wood peeking through. Do you stain it after you paint it? Also what font do you use for the "Lead Me" sign?? Thank you so much Aimee!
ReplyDelete-Rachel
I usually use sandpaper to distress the edges, then sometimes I'll rub stain onto the raw wood that is showing and sometimes I'll just let it natural. The font for the Lead Me sign is called Feel Script. Hope this helps!
DeleteFirst of all, thank you so much for this informative tutorial, thank you also to "Anonymous" who was very informative as well. I love your signs, they are so beautiful! I am sorry if this question has been addressed before but I was wondering about the dark edges of some of the signs. Do you use an ink pad for that effect, or do you have another technique that you would be willing to share?
ReplyDeleteConnie - yes I do use an ink pad to darken some of the edges of my signs. It works quite well. Let me know if you have any other questions!
DeleteHi Aimee! I am in l-o-v-e with your signs and beautiful artwork. I am currently about to start the lettering on the first one I'm making. It's a very large project and I am slightly worried about the lettering. How do you get the lettering so perfect and dark? I see you use two coats of paint but do you ever have any problems with the background coming through? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
ReplyDeleteI typically just do one coat of paint, then I'll sand the lettering with a fine sanding block. This keeps the brush marks from showing up so much. I have a lot of practice with lettering signs, so that helps. But let me know if you have any other questions!
DeleteHello, would you kindly name the fonts you use for your lao tzu sign? I love the script-like font in that sign!
ReplyDeleteThe fonts are Perpetua Titling MT and Jellyka Delicious Cake.
DeleteFANTASTIC!! I REALLY LIKE THEM! YOU ARE SO GREAT! YOU INSPIRE ME TO DO SOMETHING!
ReplyDeleteLove your signs! Do you know what fonts you used on the "bless the food before us, the family beside us, and the love between us" sign? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThe fonts are Feel Script and Times New Roman.
DeleteWhat technique do you use to write on your signs? I have a couple I am wanting to do and haven't found a good technique yet.
ReplyDeleteYou can see my sign tutorial here: http://aimee-weaver.blogspot.com/2011/06/sign-tutorial-how-to-make-wood-sign.html
DeleteJust wonder how you stain the edges of some of your signs? Do you do it before you put your white paint on, or do you do it afterwards??
ReplyDeleteI stain the signs BEFORE I paint them or I just leave them their natural brown color. Then when I paint, I don't paint to the edges, letting some of the stained parts showing. Please let me know if you have any questions!
DeleteThanks alot!! Just wondering if you ever make signs from pallet wood??
DeleteI haven't used pallets - only barn wood.
DeleteWow I love them and I would also love to make one of them. The hand writing is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLovely Signs are designed here.. Good work

- Morgann
