Carmel-By-The-Sea
After we spent several days in San Francisco, we drove south a few hours to a quaint little town called Carmel-By-The-Sea, which is right next to Pebble Beach.
This town is so incredibly chock-full of houses and shops that look like they are right out of a storybook! I just LOVED every minute that we spent there!
I took tons of pictures of the houses (hubs was quite weary of my picture-taking!), so if you're a house-buff like I am, you'll appreciate them.
We stayed at a bed & breakfast for four nights called the Sea View Inn, which was just a block or so from the beach. We really enjoyed our stay there! We usually try to stay at a bed and breakfast for a few nights when we're on vacation and, every time, we are inspired to someday run one of our own!
It's so interesting to meet people from all over the US and world, to chat with them over breakfast, and compare travel stories. We met people from Scotland, Australia, Texas, and California.
To redeem ourselves from eating at Safeway in San Francisco, I must say that we ate very well in this little town! Almost every corner has a fine dining restaurant and the food was so good! No fast food is allowed in this town!
A beautiful sunset over the Carmel beach...
If you are ever in this area, you should definitely check out this town!

The pictures are beautiful. I must be like you because I didn't get tired of looking at all the house and garden photos. Thanks for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteA couple years ago my in-laws did a trip almost exactly like you guys just did. They hit San Fran, Napa Valley, and Carmel by the Sea - they loved this place as well and I couldn't get over that there was actually a place that really looked like this! It was the first i had heard of it. Hope to see it myself one day!
ReplyDeleteLooks and sounds like you had a lovely trip. Mj
How charming! I have been to Carmel before but it's been a long time. Your pictures make me want to go back! So glad you upgraded from your fine dining from Safeway. :)
ReplyDeletelooked like a lovely vacay! I enjoyed the pictures!!
ReplyDeleteOh my word - is that not the best looking town ever? I am thinking that I need to go there, and soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these pics. The town looks just wonderful. I will be sure to put it on my places I want to go list.
Love these photos!
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely right: storybook-looking for sure! That must have been neat to see in person...now I'm calculating when and how to take a CA trip with Curt! :)
ReplyDeleteAhhh thank you for the lovely photos. We were married in Carmel 10 years ago and it was truly nice to see a few familiar places. We were married on the beach and the sun cleared up a spot during a terrific storm just long enough for us to have the ceremony and say I do!!! ;o) memory lane
ReplyDeleteLove the house photos...I could never tire of driving around and looking at houses. The garden out in CA always make me jealous...that's what nice weather more than 6 months a year will get you!
ReplyDeleteYipee! I've always wanted to visit Carmel, partly b/c of the the cottages and partly b/c Doris Day lives there. :)
ReplyDeleteSo very pretty. And yes, that must be one of the fun things about running a B&B -- meeting people from all over the world. I guess I will find out:)
